OUR STORY
The story of Ray’s Seafood began in the early 1950s, when Mrs. Parker and her son, Ray Parker, opened a small lobster pound along the New Hampshire coast. Ray caught the lobsters himself, and his mother served up fresh lobster rolls right by the water. As word spread, the family added a clam shack beside the pound and named it Ray’s Seafood — proudly sharing the motto, “Our food is as fresh as our help.”
By 1961, their little seaside stand had grown into Ray’s Seafood Restaurant, a full-service spot known for serving the freshest seafood around. After Ray’s passing in 1973, longtime friend and employee Aura Widen and her husband John carried on the tradition, rebuilding after hardship and keeping Ray’s spirit alive for generations. The Widen family continues to operate the beloved coastal restaurant to this day.
Now, that same spirit lives on at the new Ray’s Seafood & Chowder Shack on Route 1 — where we bring the classic flavors, family pride, and tradition of the original Ray’s a little farther inland. We’re proud to serve the same New England chowders, rolls, and fried favorites that made Ray’s a local legend — fresh, simple, and made with the same heart that started it all.
